There are several benefits of having SB Defenders membership.

MCLE

Beginning in 2022, the SB Defenders will begin providing Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) courses to the legal community. The courses will be free to all SB Defenders members. 2022 topics will include trial advocacy, professional responsibility, and new legislation.

Weekly Meetings

Members are invited to weekly meetings where they receive updates on the procedures of the Santa Barbara Superior Court and Santa Barbara law enforcement.

Networking

Members are able to network with a wide-range of Santa Barbara County criminal defense attorneys, including current criminal law specialists, and former judges, public defenders and district attorneys.

Assistance

Members can ask questions about criminal law procedure in Santa Barbara via our group list serve. Our members frequently exchange information about which departments are open, which forms are proper, and even tips on practicing in Santa Barbara. If you have gone to a department just to find the door or zoom meeting closed, you will definitely appreciate this perk!
